Long Time No Blog!
Things have been busy around here. End of summer, lots of birthdays, Katy's wedding, trying to get things together for my residency application (yikes!) and getting ready to take the second part of the medical boards next week.
But, do not despair! There has been knitting. This has been the spring/summer of baby blankets! I now present you with 2 completed blankets. One more is finished being knit, but needs a bajillion hours of seaming before it is finished.
First is the Argosy Baby Blanket.
This was knit with Ormo Atom (6.5 skeins in White) that I ordered online. I had planned to give this blanket away, but it took for-freaking-ever to knit. I decided to keep it until someone who would really appreciate the knitting effort has a kid. So, if you are ever the recipient of this blanket, feel special. I knit this on size 6's (hence the forever-ness) and it turned out to be pretty large. It's a beautiful pattern and would work up nicely with almost any yarn or any gauge. I'd definitely use this pattern again, however I'd use doubled or thicker yarn and bigger needles!
Next is Luke's Blanket, that has already been gifted. This is an awesome baby blanket. The yarn is Icelandic Jewels, from Hobby Lobby, machine washable (perfect for a baby!). It took barely over 3 skeins of yarn, and lets just say, this blanket was easy on the wallet. I got the yarn when it was on bigtime sale. I really liked this pattern, as well. You start from the inside and work out, so you don't have to worry about running out of yarn. I added garter stitch border around the edge to prevent rolling.Easy pattern, good mindless knitting, and no purling, since you knit in the round! This is now my stand-by baby blanket, I've decided!
